Client case study

Despite having an ecommerce website for two years, our client needed help reaching their target customers online. They realized that having a website does not translate automatically to online traffic.

GOBIGGR's goal is to help the client's ecommerce website be more visible online. The website had zero SEO when we started, and they need rescuing as they continuously grow the number of their products in the online store.

Approach:

GOBIGGR began by identifying important elements that need to be worked on immediately. Full website audit and diagnostics can run for 3 to 5 days, but we decided to do a quick audit ASAP to address important issues like page loading speed, redirects, and other server related fixes.

Tools used:

  • GTMetrix - GTMetrix can break down website elements for you and give you list of priorities to work on when doing on-page SEO.
  • Screaming Frog SEO - There is no better tool to audit and diagnose a website than screaming frog.
  • On-page SEO Checklist - We have created this onsite SEO checklist, which is working for us and our clients. We plot down the client's website and create a checklist and tag their priority levels so we would know where to start first.

Findings:

The client has 2500+ products on the site, many needing SEO. We must act fast as the client plans to add more products in the coming weeks.

Execution & Results

Execution:

Here are key activities that driven results for the client:

  • Doing a complete full website audit and diagnostics to identify key points of the website SEO project and benchmark the current state of the website.
  • File optimization to improve the loading speed of the site. Creating an SEO Standard for their creatives team on uploading product images.
  • Cache and CDN implementation for faster website loading speed.
  • We created a standard formula for writing product title and meta description tags. Since they have 2500+ (and they are continuously adding new products every 15th of the month, it's best to get everyone on board on how to write proper meta elements.
  • Schema data structure implementation for product pages. Including review schema and
  • Remove duplicated content and product pages by writing new copies, redirection, and canonicalization.
  • We also helped with the product page copies; since they don't have a standard structure in place for writing copies on product pages, they needed something that is SEO-friendly that they can follow.

Results:

  • After the SEO was fully implemented, the client had an incremental increase in organic traffic. Since we started the client had 220% increase in monthly organic traffic from 5000 to 16000.
  • The client website is now SEO optimized (for the first time).
  • The client now has a roadmap or SEO standard operating procedure to execute whenever their web team or merchandise team uploads a new product.
